Welcome to the season where books go toe-to-toe with beach balls, and bedtime stories compete with backyard barbecues. Yes, it’s officially Summer Reading time in Novi, Michigan! If you’re new to the area—or considering moving here—let’s just say Novi knows how to combine community, creativity, and page-turning excitement like no other.
From June 2 to August 9, 2025, the Novi Public Library will transform into a lively hub of activity, prizes, and learning opportunities for all ages. Whether you’re a preschooler reading your way through picture books or an adult sneaking in chapters between work meetings, there’s something here just for you.
A Reading Program for All Ages
Babies to Kindergarteners
Little readers (with a lot of grown-up help) who complete 50 books earn a treasure trove of goodies—a free book, a State Fair Pass, and one entry into the State Fair Ultimate Wristband raffle. But wait, there’s more! Five lucky winners will also receive a $25 grand prize basket. And if your little one’s love for reading goes the distance, they’ll be invited to the Summer Reading Finale Party on August 20, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Novi Public Library. (Registration is required for the party. Dress for some good, slightly messy fun.)
Grades 1 to 4
Readers in this age group who finish 20 books unlock a seriously cool reward package. Along with a free book and State Fair Pass, they get a gift certificate to Paradise Park—a local hotspot for family fun—and one entry into the Grand Finale Event raffle. Reading has never sounded so exciting!
Grades 5 to 8
Tweens who read 8 books are in for the same sweet deal: a free book, State Fair Pass, Paradise Park gift certificate, and entry into the Super Reader Grand Finale Event. Whether they’re into sci-fi or sports biographies, there’s a reward waiting at the finish line.
High Schoolers (Grades 9 to 12)
Older students are not left out. Those who read 4 books this summer snag the same prize combo: a free book, State Fair Pass, Paradise Park gift certificate, and entry into the raffle for a fun-filled finale event. It’s the perfect excuse to unplug from screens and dive into a great story.
Adults 18 and Over
Why should kids have all the fun? Adults who read 4 books earn two $1 off coupons to the Friends Book Nook, a State Fair Pass, and a chance to win a Novi Library picnic blanket and cooler—perfect for those summer weekends. Ten lucky readers will win the grand prize, so don’t sit this one out.
Paradise Park: The Ultimate Reward
One of the biggest reasons this program stands out is the Super Reader Grand Finale Event at Paradise Park. Forty readers from grades 1 through 12 will be randomly selected to enjoy two hours of unlimited fun, arcade play, homemade cheese pizza, and their choice of a sweet treat—yes, you heard right: unlimited arcade play and pizza! Whether it’s mini golf, balloon tower climbing, or laser tag, there’s a little something for every kid (Go-Karts not included, but the excitement won’t be lacking).

Once you’re signed up, track your progress online or with a paper log. After hitting your reading goal, head back to the library between July 9 and August 29 to claim your prizes. Don’t wait too long—some events require advance registration.
